Education rewards
Not only do we provide and pay for all in service training, we also recognise these achievements via increased remuneration once education milestones are reached.


In-house education
We provide all in service education via our highly skilled and experienced in‑house educators.


Education fund
Hurst Lifecare recognises the value of continuing education and the contribution that our people make to our organisation. We have a unique group education fund that is available to all of our people. This fund is potentially available for any training and education outside of the normal in service training. We are proud to say that we have many examples of our people moving between jobs within our organisation on the back of external training and education.


We value loyalty and hard work
For our hard working and loyal people that are with us for five years or more, an annual continuous service payment is paid (certain criteria must be met). This increases each year up to and including their 10th year. We are proud to say that we have a large proportion of our people receiving these continuous service rewards.


We pay for your KiwiSaver
Many businesses require their employer KiwiSaver contribution to be deducted from your pay. At Hurst Lifecare we take a long term view and recognise the importance of saving for retirement. For this reason we will contribute the 3% over and above your pay rate to KiwiSaver.


Keeping up with the times…
Continuous improvement is important to our organisation. We are adopting the latest advancements in technology to ensure we provide the easiest environment for our staff to work in and ensure they are able to spend time doing what we are all here to do; looking after our all-important residents. We have adopted a computerised medication management program called Medimap. We have also adopted an automated clinical software package called VCare. Tablets are being utilised throughout our facilities to assist with the efficient use of our software.

We are currently reviewing other potential systems to make life easier for our people, to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to our residents and to help our people make the most of every day.


We put a Spark in our people’s day
We have adopted a unique and proven person centred care philosophy called the Spark of Life at some of our facilities. This philosophy will ensure we are looking after our residents on a level like never before. It is aimed at improving our residents’ social and emotional wellbeing as well as creating greater job satisfaction for our people.


We care about our people
We have a large focus on the health and wellbeing of our people. We have provided resource for and encouraged activities such as free influenza vaccination, yoga, fun runs, staff sport challenges, weight loss challenges, healthy eating & cooking education, health checks, personal life coaching as well as many other initiatives. This is a key focus of ours going forward.
